Dan, I'd Rather
you had listened to  Frankie Laine

Keep a-movin, Dan, dontcha listen to him, Dan
He's a devil, not a man

Possibly the most powerful thing the right does better than the left is discredit sources. Never mind that the secretary who would have typed the report remembers the substance of the memo as true. Sure you know and I know that George has been spoon fed all his life, but the fact that he skipped out on his National Guard duties is useless if the critics can find an un-dotted I in the "proof" offered, especially one that you should have found yourself.  The left just let's those things pass on by.  For example, the swift boat folks.  The claim that some 'Nam vet remembers clearly that he was NOT shot at on a certain day 35 years ago is nonsense.  But the vets with the magic memories were not discredited, so the substance of their assertion was given validity. But then you already knew that Dan.  Since my audience just the ethernet I am not qualified to give advice.  But even after I say things, I like to keep my eye on them for accuracy. Here's how I done it.
Nothing new down below, just renaming this part.

Emergency Blog Update

Here while back I promised my reader(s), (myself, my mother) that I would try to use good science and good sense. It now appears that I may have passed along some erroneous information.  I reported on the archeological digs in Peru that may have been the site of the "mother city". In the reports I used, there was mention of the Megabolinus Snail.  I ignored the little "ching" in my brain and obliged my twisted sense of fun with the information.  But since the ching kept dinging away in the background I decided to poke around a bit more.  Hmmm.  Seems I am having trouble locating references to these Megabolinus critters.  Here are a couple of the results of my research just as I found them.

Toxicol Pharmacol C 11:49-65. Morcillo Y, Porte C. 1999. Evidence of endocrine disruption in the imposex-affected gastropod Bolinus brandaris. Environ Res A 81:349-354. Oberdorster E, Rittschof D, McClellan-Green P. 1998. Testosterone metabolism in imposex...

Then, at Homer's suggestion, the singer Demodocus begins a long narrative about Prometheus. The Titan, chained on Mt. Caucasus, is afflicted by the god Apollo. In return he taunts Apollo by recalling the god's ill treatment of Coronis and Clytie, and also Bolina. The latter was transformed into a mermaid, and her father Bolinus was transformed into a dolphin.

Golly! Cap'n Bob,  have we been snookered?.  Could it possibly be that the critter should have been called Megabologna? [I did not check out whether lime does indeed enhance the effect of cocaine.  The last time I had any dealings with lime was back in the early `70's when I lived in a cabin with an outhouse.]   Since I did find a biological reference to bolinus I am not positive that Megabolinus was a gag.  Check it out if you are interested.

Whatever, the events are an excellent example of the kinds of information processing I will be writing about in Through The Cockpit Doors, the next chapter of which will be a while, the going is a little hard on my rickety old synapses.  Meanwhile, for your edification and enjoyment I will update the record of my quest to become a local yokel.
