Friend of mine in Colorado, who once aspired to become a spiritual leader, decided instead to become a mad scientist and built this house (Since I neglected to ask his permission to publish his creation I will hold off providing further details until I receive his blessing to do so. Or not.) to demonstrate his arcane theories of spacial relevance. Basically, when the sun shines through the windows at various angles it is decoded by Faustian inner workings thereby revealing wondrous mysteries of the universe. Should he ever decide to bless the cyberfolk with his discoveries, Google will probably have it filed under asterisk something or other. I must confess that I envy his ability to visualize things in four dimensions while I must plod along with three. Nonetheless I also am making precise astronomical observations. Back home in the mountains of Colorado the weather stations do announce the times of sunrise and sunset, but that information has little practical value. When it gets light enough outside to see, it is daytime; and when it gets too dark outside to see it is nighttime. The sun can pop into view apparently randomly, and in some places doesn't bother to show up at all. But here on the beach all that is changed. For much of the year the sun rises over the open ocean, therefore I can spot it within one or two nanoseconds of when it first peeks over the horizon. I am carefully monitoring its appearance to make sure it stays on schedule, so rest easy. Should I observe it moving erratically in relation to the mandatory schedule issued by the local weather stations I will warn you right away.
Halloween is coming up this weekend. It used to be one of my favorite holidays, but Halloween here in the bible belt is pretty boring. Not so in my home town of Boulder. Here is one of our treasured midnight rituals.
I have bemoaned my claudicant rate of production on these pages, which I blame on calcification of critical synaptic pathways in my traumatized grey matter. Then again I could just be lazy. But now my manifesto is getting behind the times. and folks like CNN's Broken Government Series are beginning to steal my thunder. So rather than stay the course while still pretending that I am on the right path, I am having my staff prepare a preview of coming attractions, which in no way should be interpreted as a time table.
Oops! To those folks who tried to download all 17 million bytes of the video, sorry bout that. Took it down. Meanwhile, as a substitute for watching a large group of necked folks with pumpkins on their heads run through the streets of Boulder at midnight (while it is snowing), here's another bit of get mad as hell political rant. Check it out for yourself http://www.nakedpumpkinrun.org/
[Addendum to Dixie Chicks and Rednecks:
Last time I made reference to a government action "to cover up a lie so vile most Americans could not even imagine it possible", but I neglected to articulate the specific action I had in mind. So I will do that now. The issue is secret prisons in other countries and torture of those we have captured. It's too late now to raise any moral issues other than to note that the alleged "lack of clarity" in the 1949 Geneva Convention with respect to treatment of prisoners has seemed perfectly clear to all civilized governments, including our own, until now. But what I find most troubling is that essentially the only argument being used against torture is that other countries will use our actions as justification to torture any of our citizens they capture. Do we think for one instant that our leaders did not already know that? They knew, they just don't care. As far as national security issues are concerned, it presents no major problem. All we have to do is to make sure that none of our citizens in the line of fire know any secrets. The only adjustment necessary is to increase the level of secrecy. They can't tell anything of value if they don't know anything of value. Just what we need here in good old freedom loving government by the people America---- to know even less about what our government is up to.]
